   What I was (cryptically) referring to above is the possablity that
Rehnquist is having a sort of mental breakdown over a perhaps
realization of the destruction of the Constitution by FDR through the
bankruptcy of '33 and the subsequent imposition of emergency powers and
the resulting jurisdictional problems created. It could be that
Rehnquist is starting to see the ramifications of this and his reactions
to this realization is causing him to act strangely. The sandwich story
and the gold stripes both seem to be related to problems in interpreting
the Constitution under emergency rule. The gold stripes seem especially
significant to me, as I have pointed out before. However, I still do not
have a clear understanding of what it means.
