No, it's the pre-Hindu Jains who hold to a doctrine of Ahimsa, do-no-harm,
the ultimate pacifism that so influenced Gandhi and M.L.King. Hinduism is
based on invasion, conquest - the Gitas are basically chronicles of wars
of the Aryan conquerors of India. The dilemma of Hinduism vs Christianity
is that Hinduism only grows by population growth, not by conversion - you
must be BORN a Hindu [or marry into it, so your kids can be Hindu.] So
the terrorism of Hindu nationalists reflects their valid fear of any/all
proselytizing faiths - if your co-religionists are lured to another faith,
they're gone and they can't be replaced. Thus to fundy Hindus, conversion
is genocide, and terror is a justifiable response.
Only a very few fringe Hindu sects, like ISKCON ["Hare Krishnas"] try to
recruit others. Unless/until either 1) a proselytizing doctrine enters
the mainstream of Hinduism, or 2) Hinduism becomes extinct, the xenophobic
terror will continue. This is similar to but distinct from the central
quandry of monotheism, where if YOUR god is right, all OTHER gods must
be wrong and their followers must be converted or suppressed. Certain
classes of religions are structured for terror/violence. Bother.
