Read the book and decide! BRIBERY - The act or practice of giving or accepting money or some other payment with the object of influencing the action or judgment; the application of influence to gain votes at a parliamentary hearing or other election. While the Dairy Livestock and Poultry Committee was debating whether or not to label milk products containing Monsanto's genetically engineered hormone, four congressmen on that committee accepted bribes directly from Monsanto. Volkmer, $2000; Dooley, $1000; Gunderson, $1000; Pombo, $500. They were voting on labeling issues impacting on Monsanto, yet they accepted money. The proposed bill was stalled in committee and never was voted upon by Congress. Monsanto had their top dairy scientist, Margaret Miller, Ph.D, hired by FDA to review her own research. Monsanto had their attorney, Michael Taylor, hired by FDA to write the regulations and approval for the genetically engineered bovine protein. Taylor then left FDA and was hired by the USDA where he implemented many of the rules, regulations and protocols for the new genetic engineering technology. Monsanto and FDA will not release the key study, authored by Richard, Odaglia and Deslex, in which lab animals got cancer from the new food additive found in milk and dairy products. Despite Freedom of Information requests and Federal suits that study still remains a secret. Monsanto's previous attorney, Clarence Thomas, sits on the Supreme Court. Bob Dole's chief of Staff, Don Rumsfeld, was once the President of Searle Pharmaceuticals (purchased by Monsanto). Monsanto also hired an ex-FDA Commissioner and ex-Surgeon General to lobby on their behalf. The AMA, recognizing that this most publicized controversy must be handled with surgical gloves, assigned the task of writing a paper in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) to two "independent doctors." One was David Barbano, hired by the Dairy Coalition to conduct a seminar on BST safety. Co-author, William Daughaday, M.D., had Monsanto ties. The actual words of the JAMA reviewer which were added as an addendum to the paper reveal that Dr. Daughaday was the recipient of a research contract from Monsanto Company, a small fraction of which was paid as a consulting fee. The AMA received money from Monsanto as did the American Dietician's Association. OK... could that be a clue to a CONSPIRACY? Perhaps what follows is part of a COVERUP?
