UNITED STATES CIVILIAN POLICE FORCE - HAITI
The U.S. State Department is seeking active police officers of any rank
who speak Creole/French and are eager to accept a challenging and rigorous
assignment to serve with the United States Civilian Police Force (CIVPOL)
in support of the United Nations and the Haitian Police Force (HNP). Duty
will be assigned by U.N. at a police station to assist the HNP in
standardizing station house procedures, conducting investigations,
scheduling patrols and conducting patrols. The State Department is
coordinating this project through DynCorp, a defense service contractor.

Benefits of Participation
This mission provides American police officers the opportunity to operate
in a foreign culture and to be exposed to unique policing problems, as
they daily confront cultural and ethical issues. Although the agency will
lose the officer for a short period of time, the skills acquired and
refined overseas will, in the long run, compliment what the officer has
already learned in America.

The first contingent of twenty-five (25) Creole/French speaking officers
are having a significant impact on the Haitian National Police and the
general population. Highly favorable comments have been received from the
U.S. Department of State and from numerous press releases about their
contributions. Their efforts have been so successful that an additional
twenty-five (25) positions have been authorized. The responses by
qualified officers has been very good and only a few slots remain to be
filled. Dont miss this opportunity to assist the citizens of Haiti and
their national police as they struggle with the rewards of freedom.
