Linda Tripp made a critical error in judgement. She thought she was just
like the "American people". Wrong! Monica Lewinsky, not Linda Tripp, is
"just like the American people". Like Monica Lewinsky, the "American People"
are c* suckers, gleefully ready to sacrifice self-respect, independence, and
liberty to curry favor with the powerful!
Linda Tripp is a principled whistle blower, confronting illegitimate
power under difficult circumstances, certainly nothing like the "American
people" who care only about propitiating power, kneeling down before
government power in the hopes of obtaining unearned medical and retirement
benefits.
Far from joining Linda Tripp in confronting power, the demented "American
People" join Monica Lewinsky in her fantasy world where the most vicious,
the scum who float and claw their way to the top of power heirarchies--the
Hitlers, the Stalins, the Caesars, the Clintons--can be relied upon to
provide happiness and benefits for the weak and helpless if only one stoops
lower than a prostitute.
Prostitutes, after all, don't buy into such fantasies of self-delusion.
They quickly learn the nature of the transactions in which they are engaged
moving from one transaction to another while maintaining a measure of
purposeful self-respect. In the prostitute's mind, the client is being
"tricked" with false blandishments, an act of phoney submission, an act that
parts the fool from his money.
But not Monica and not the "American People". Monica and the "American
People" are real whores, not conniving prostitutes. They yearn to give-up
all to Caesar, their hearts, their minds, their liberty, their independece
for the false illusions of security Caesar promises with such sincerity.
In Rome it started in earnest with Julius Caesar, in America with Franklin
D. Roosevelt.
The people are whining for a Caesar. They would prefer Julius or
Augustus, but will just as easily put on the knee pads for Caligula and
pretend.
