Bush has already lost. Resorting to violence on a domestic or international
level is imprudent. Even in the home, moderation and mediation is the
rule. Drunk on joy-juice or on power doesn't give any one an excuse to
resort to unreasonable force to solve any problems.

Shrub's got a real problem IF he doesn't follow through: he's got about a
million or so voters who represent the only audience in front of whom he
can give one of his pep talks. Compare any talk of his at any base and the
talk at the AEI or last night's puppet walk. Add dependents and relatives
and friends and that number goes WAYYYY up. "Hurry up and wait!" may
be the military's motto but I've seen people who've spent time in the sand
box and there wasn't a whole lot of excitement about the experience. To
go for no reason results in a gripe or two. CNN wasn't everywhere.
Compound this with all the $$$ that have gone into this adventure and
should he go or not go, it's $$$ down the drain while the domestic
economy is suffering. They may have planned this little escapade while
the economy was hot back in 1998 and now the utilities have been cut off.

He's lost the element of surprise -- nationally and internationally. If this
had been done on Oct 11th, 2001, who'd have gotten excited? Plus, I tend
to agree with the person who pointed out that to go counter to the UN at
this point puts B&B in the same bed with SH (and one of HIS near west
neighbours), all of whom could be found to be in material breech of the
UN. But like one of his pals, who gives a shit about the UN as long as
there's a lot of pork on the negotiating table?

Not wanting to seem to be disagreeable but I think he's realised that he's
shot his wad and HE (like SH) has little more to lose at this point.
According to Janis, he's now "free".

Opinions are like good looks: everybody has them.
