Do you know what year that Morgan was governor of Jamaica? Did the pirate Morgan have any connection with Sir Henry Morgan, who is mentioned in T.R. Fehrenbach's book, Lone Star: A History of Texas and the Texans, which says "Morgan had raided the Caribbean coast and looted Panama with only the flimsiest license. But the English freebooters, in most Anglo-Saxon eyes, served a national and ethnic as well as a personally profitable purpose. When filibustero came into Spanish usage, it referred to American insurgents against the Spanish Crown." from pp. 115-16 What's interesting about Jamaica is that I have found in a book about the first centennial of Texas Scottish Rite freemasonry that the Grand Lodge of South Carolina was sponsored by the Grand Lodge of Paris, and that the biggest lodge in America was in Jamaica; it was the headquarters for the lodges that sprang up in New Orleans and later in Texas. What is further intriguing about Jamaica is that it became a center for intelligence operations for such men as Sir William Stephenson, Major Louis Mortimer, Ferenc Nagy, Georgio Mantello, Clay Shaw, Jean de Menil, Paul Raigorodsky and John Connally. Has anybody ever inquired if these men were all connected by a thread of Scottish Rite freemasonry?
