Some companies are being receptive to worker requests to terminate W-4 agreements and have stopped withholding. Many are too afraid to consider doing so because of their fear of the IRS. We are encouraged by the interest in the subject being shown by union locals, specifically the UAW (United Auto Workers) and the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.) In this current environment of vilifying anyone who challenges the actions of the federal government, we applaud those who are willing to stand up and demand answers to valid legal questions. We applaud those Americans who are courageously taking the lawful steps necessary to exercise their rights regarding withholding. For those people who have asked when we will be visiting their states, we are happy to report that future meetings are now being scheduled for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and that we intend to schedule meetings in each of the other states that we have not yet been to. We also wish to thank all those who recently stood with Gene Chapman in Austin, Texas in support of his effort to get the government to answer a single question by citing the specific source of his legal liability to pay the income tax. Bob Schulz reports that the rally was a fine showing of esprit de corps and that it was good to see so many friends. We were surprised to learn of Gene's decision the next day to end his fast and to now commit to walk some 1300 miles to Washington, DC. We wish him well in his endeavor.
