The registry launched last September to try to track the long term medical and psychological effects of 9/11 will end in August. It looks at all those who were in the area when the towers were struck. Participants complete a 30-minute telephone interview, including questions about how long they were exposed to smoke and fumes and their current health. Participants are eligible to sign up if they any of meet the following criteria: Those who were on the street, in a building or on a subway south of Chambers Street on 9/11. Anyone involved with rescue recovery or cleanup operations at either the WTC site or the Staten Island site between September of 2001 and June of 2002. School children and staff at any school south of Canal Street who were at school on 9/11 Residents who lived south of Canal Street on 9/11.
