-Caveat Lector- <<I was just thinking the other day about American history and attempted erasure of indigenous cultures. And, so, this found me.>> >From www.originalcources.com Clinton's Hypocrisy and the American Public's Willingness to be Deceived An American Indian Looks at the Hypocrisy of Clinton Administration towards Serbs By: Mary Mostert, Analyst, Original Sources (http://www.originalsources.com) April 27, 1999 Someone sent me a copy of an article written by an American Indian who takes a sharp, critical view of the Clinton Administration's war on Yugoslavia. And, for all you American Indians out there who are going to ask if I am an Indian, the answer if "no." I also am not Serbian. I'm just an ordinary mongrel American who actually believes the principles upon which this nation was founded. In fact, I have already written about the Trail of Tears forced ethnic cleansing of the State of Georgia of Cherokee, Creek and other Indian tribes. They had even taken their case to the United Supreme Court and WON. The Court said, "No, Georgia, You can't simply seize Indian Lands and drive them to Oklahoma. They have rights, too." But another Democrat was president then, Andrew Jackson, and he told the Court, basically to stuff it. If they wanted to keep him from driving the Indians off the lands he considered "too good" for mere Indians, just try it. HE, after all, was commander-in-chief of the U.S. Army. And, sadly, the American public not only let Andrew Jackson ethnically cleanse Georgia, but even re-elected him. A View from an American Indian Hypocritical is possibly the word best suited for the American role in the aggressions against the Nation of Yugoslavia. All the justifications rendered by the Clinton Administration for this aggression have been and continue to be perpetrated by the United States Government against its own Native Peoples. Since the earliest beginning of the United States Government it has sought to eradicate or assimilate the ethic people of the continent it occupies. Germ warfare, massacre of women, children and the elderly, forced removal from Homelands, and sequestering in desolate environments have been U.S. policy. The removal of ethnic Albanians is played up by the Americans, forgetting that it was the United States Government who ordered the forced removal from the southeastern part of the American continent of the Five Civilized Nations in what was later to be called The Trail of Tears. American Indian People forced from their homes with little more than they could carry in their arms. Forced westward marches with the dead and dying left on the side of the trails. Execution of any who sought to remain or escape. It should be further noted that these Nations were guaranteed by Treaty with the United States Government that their removal would be to lands that would forever be "sovereign" Indian lands. This held true only until the greed of the American's found need for this land. It was the practices of genocide and ethnic cleansing of the American Government against the occupants of Its lands that so inspired Adolf Hitler in his designs for what became known as the Holocaust of World War II, and in light of the amount of Native People infected, starved and massacred by the United States Government, the actions of the Third Reich should be viewed as little more than a minor copy cat venture. The Nations of the world stand by in fear, as if frightened by a large serpent and the threat of its fangs, as the American aggressions continue, forgetting that in time even they will be challenged to withdraw their sovereign rights or be attacked. Just as the Roman, Spanish, and British Empires before it, the United States Empire has grown in military and monetary strengths to the point that it has placed itself in the position of making the Nations of the World it's subjects. All the Empires before it continued to consume the rights of others until enough courage was borne in them to stand up to the aggressions. Even the American Empire had its beginning by standing against what was then the greatest Empire in the World. And Its victory was only achieved only with the aid of others tired of that Empire. Much of what dictates the world economy today is based on the American monetary standard. The United States has financial interests in practically every Nation of the world. So much so that even the threat of the removal of Its foreign aid to them will cause a dissenting Nation to back down. It should be remembered that the American hold on such matters will remain only so long as its position of World dominance remains. And this dominance can only be neutralized by substantial resistance by other Nations. The United States policies of forcing Nations to adhere to her rule have only served to tear down and weaken those Nations who have succumbed to it. Financial crisis, increased organized crime and overall discontent have been the only blessings the populations of these Nations have seen as a result of adapting to American standards. The United States Government conceals its aggressions under the cloak of words like World Peace and Human Rights. It is past time for the Nations of the World to realize this deception. It is time for the International Community to follow the lead of the courageous little Nation of Yugoslavia and say the line is drawn here! And to stand in support of this proud Nation. The time has come for the International Community to begin demands that the American Government practice what it dictates to others in Its own lands before meddling in the affairs of other sovereign Nations. And time for those American Indians who wear the uniform of those who slaughtered their own Ancestors to cease aiding in these aggressions and instead stand up for the rights of their own People. Time for all those facing the intimidation of the American lead aggressions to stand together in opposition to it. All must keep in mind that even the school yard bully becomes meek when faced with a group of those he torments. Charles Buffalo Member- Original Nations of the East [EMAIL PROTECTED] "The United States Government conceals its aggressions under the cloak of words like World Peace and Human Rights," Charles Buffalo observes. Well, folks, how many times in world history have you ever heard of a tyrant who DIDN'T cloak his actions with good sounding words? How many tyrants have said, "Look, folks, I'm an evil tyrant. Do what I tell you to do or I'll kill you!" It just doesn't happen. When the bombing of Yugoslavia began, few Americans even knew where Kosovo was located, according to Bill Clinton. However, in this information age, some Americans today are trying to find out about Kosovo. My own curiosity about the situation was piqued largely by the strange one-sidedness of the reporting we have seen everything since the break-up of Yugoslavia began in 1991-92. As I watched the pictures on CNN of KLA troops, outfitted in what appeared to be new or nearly new uniforms and carrying sophisticated weapons, I wondered, "Who is financing this group? Albanians are the poorest nation with the lowest GNP in Europe. How could they afford the weapons, the uniforms? And, I began to search for answers. I was surprised at the answers I found. The KLA is an established and well-known terrorist organization, listed as one of the top 100 terrorist organizations in the World by the Federation of American Scientists. Newspaper clippings from the Czech Republic, Italy and Germany report arrests of KLA leaders in those countries for the sale of heroin. Police reports - not political reports - police reports state that 90% of the Heroin in Scandinavian nations is supplied by the KLA. Why did Madeline Albright push aside the established leader of the Ethnic Albanians of Kosovo, Rugova, and accept the KLA leader Thaci as the "negotiator" for all Albanians at Rambouillet? Why was Thaci invited to Washington following his agreement to sign a document written by the Americans? Why was Thaci not threatened with a bomb attack if he refused to sign, but Milosevic was? Why is the American Air Force being used as the Air Defense wing of a group which has been labeled a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department as recently as a year ago? And, why is there serious consideration now being given to use of a newly recruited and trained KLA as the "ground forces" required for the Apache helicopters sent to Albania for attacks on the sovereign nation of Yugoslavia? My search led me to far more questions than answers. However, I just don't believe that Bill Clinton, having lied consistently throughout his tenure in office, is now suddenly telling us the truth about Yugoslavia and our actions there. We somehow concluded as a nation, through the people we elected to the Congress of the United States of America, that lying under oath does not matter; that sexual attacks upon a variety of women over the years by the President of the United States is simply none of our business; that an accusation of forcible rape is not even a matter of sufficient concern for the voters to demand an investigation and that opening the way for a sworn enemy, China, to have access to nuclear secrets, super computers and missile technology, is quickly forgotten and brushed aside when the President unilaterally declares war on the sovereign nation of Yugoslavia, via executive order, is acceptable when done by a known liar in the White House. Have we collectively lost our minds? Do we really just no longer care about the kind of world we are leaving our children? Apparently not. If we did, we would be up in arms as a nation and we would be demanding the end to the Clinton hypocrisy and his War in Yugoslavia in defense of a group of drug dealers. To comment: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Were "Enraged Youth" in Colorado Following an "Enraged Clinton's" Example?" Bomb Control Might Work the Same as Gun Control in Halting Violence By: Mary Mostert, Analyst, Original Sources, (http://www.originalsources.com) April 21, 1999 There is something eerie about yesterday's two lead stories - the massacre at Columbine High School in which at least 25 people were reported killed with guns and bombs - and the NATO bombing of a high rise building in downtown Belgrade housing a TV station in Yugoslavia which was the most popular in the nation for its youth. The Denver Post reports today that in Littleton, Colorado, "Two students, cloaked in black trenchcoats and armed with guns and bombs, opened fire Tuesday on Columbine High School, killing as many as 25 people and wounding at least 22 in the worst school shooting in U.S. history. "Police found the two suspects shot to death in the library. "The shooters first targeted specific victims, especially ethnic minorities and athletes, then randomly sprayed school hallways about 11:30 a.m. with bullets and shotgun blasts, witnesses said. "The bloody rampage spanned at least four hours. The school was booby-trapped with bombs. One suspect wore a black trench coat laced with explosive devices and undetonated bombs were planted around bodies, police said. Students described the shooters as part of an outcast group of a dozen or so high-school boys, known as the Trench Coat Mafia, who often wore dark trench coats, German slogans and swastikas on their clothes. Two of the suspects were identified as Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17. "Search warrants were executed last night at the suspects' homes, according to Jefferson County District Attorney Dave Thomas. "The murders came on the 110th anniversary of Adolf Hitler's birth." The other story was the NATO bombing of the Usce business center building, in central New Belgrade early Wednesday. The 24-story Usce building housed the offices of the Socialist Party of Serbia, about 20 companies and private radio and TV stations. The Kosava radio and TV which had offices in the building and the Pink and BK TVs which had transmitters on the top are off the air. The Kosava radio and TV and the Pink and BK TVs provided the most popular entertainment programming, especially for young people, Brent Sadler of The building that was hit by four missiles is located near residential buildings and the Belgrade Museum of Modern Art. The fate of approximately 15 people known to have been in the building is unknown at this point. However, we can all breathe a great sigh of relief to learn that the most popular entertainment TV station among young people in Yugoslavia is no longer broadcasting. With the entire student population of Yugoslavia out of school because of the NATO bombing raids, last night's attack taking out the kids favorite entertainment certainly will cause the young people to rebel against their parents and Slobodan Milosevic. Won't it? Reports from Belgrade overnight on what is reported to have been the heaviest, and therefore the most expensive, bombing raids on Yugoslavia, listed only a couple of verified deaths. If four missiles struck the Usce business center building, the missiles alone to take out the building cost about $4 million. To date, according to the Clinton administration, the Yugoslavia attack requires new appropriations of $6 BILLION to tide the Defense Department over to September - 5 months away. Yet, as of this writing two teenagers on a rampage in Littleton, Colorado killed more people yesterday than NATO's nineteen nation, full-scale bombing raids on tiny Yugoslavia. An "on the ground" report today from Belgrade filed by Bob Djurdjevic noted, "Elementary, junior high, and high schools (in Yugosalvia) will remain closed for the rest of the school year. The reasons are obvious. NATO has already hit (however inadvertently, if one is to believe their spokespeople) dozens of schools across Serbia. Had there been children and teachers in them, the casualties would have been much higher than they are." Yesterday the children of Belgrade turned out to be safer than the children of Littleton, Colorado. I find this all a little difficult to analyze, especially in view of President Clinton's comment: President Clinton was asked at a news conference Tuesday: Q: Mr. President, you said you pray that people will wake up. Wake up to what, sir? CLINTON: Well, I think you know that there are a lot of kids out there who have access to weapons, and apparently more than guns here. And who build up these grievances in their own mind, and who are not being reached. And it's not just Littleton. We know that now. We've had lots and lots and lots of places. Let's see if we can make his observation understandable in the context of the war in Yugoslavia by paraphrasing: "President Clinton acknowledged Tuesday at a news conference that the nation has made little progress on preventing war. 'You know there are a lot of nations out there who have access to weapons, and apparently more than guns here, and who build up these grievances in their own mind and who are not being reached,' he said." What is he suggesting? Is he, perchance, suggesting that he, like the two boys in Littleton, Colorado, reacted too quickly to grievances in his own mind in the Balkans, merely because he had access to weapons? Or, is he suggesting disarmament? Does that mean that, once he's dropped ALL the remaining missiles on Yugoslavia, that perhaps peace will come to the land? Certainly there are a lot of voices in the international community that are really trying to reach Bill Clinton about his violent reaction to grievances in his own mind, who feel that he is not being reached. For example: Russian President Boris Yeltsin at a meeting Tuesday with officials from a number of regions of the Russian Federation said that Russia unconditionally condemned NATO's aggression on Yugoslavia and was urging a peaceful solution to the situation, Russian president's press secretary Dimitri Yakushkin said. The leaders of 19 Russian provinces and regions who met with Yeltsin, said they agreed fully with his position that the violence in Yugoslavia required a political settlement. Yeltsin said he was concerned by rising anti-western and anti-U.S. sentiments in many parts of Russia. China warned Tuesday of a danger that NATO's possible land aggression on Yugoslavia could involve, urging that the current U.S.-NATO military action be stopped immediately. The Chinese government urges that the NATO military action be halted immediately so as to bring the crisis in the Yugoslav republic of Serbia's Kosovo-Metohija province back to the path of the political settlement, foreign ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi said. Sun Yuxi said that by launching a military intervention against Yugoslavia, a sovereign country, NATO has seriously violated the U.N. Charter and principles of international law. All peace-loving countries and peoples in the world have strongly opposed this, he underscored. And, from Rome, Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini said that the United States cannot be the global policeman. Dini said that Europe cannot let the United States decide about intervention every time in the name of defense and the best interests of Europe. "Washington's interventions are primarily motivated by its own interests," Dini said, adding that the war in Yugoslav has exposed the fragility of the European economic and monetary structure. Also from Rome, Pope John Paul II on Tuesday again appealed for an end to the war in Yugoslavia. It is necessary to insist on the path of talks for settling the conflict in Yugoslavia, the Pope said in a letter to Belgrade Archbishop France Perko. "Dialogue which leads to a just solution for all is always possible," the letter said. From Athens, Greece, Archbishop Christodoulos of Athens and All Greece noted that "Only innocents" would believe the goals of the United States are the "protection of human rights, because everyone knows that behind it all are the interests and goals of the United States." He said that western civilization was created with the use of might and brute force, rather than reliance on spiritual values. This is why, he added, "it comes easy to the western powers to defend terrorists and attack people fighting for their freedom, stigmatize them and label them as terrorists." In Sofia, Bulgaria, nearly 30,000 people gathered to demand an immediate end of NATO's "criminal aggression on the neighboring European sovereign state of Yugoslavia" and demanded that the government refuse to grant NATO access to Bulgarian air space for further airstrikes on Yugoslavia and its republic of Serbia. The protesters carried banners demanding "NATO get out of the Balkans," "Yankee go Home," "Peace in the Balkans," "No Air Corridors". In response to the massacre yesterday in Littleton, President Clinton called attention to a spate of school shootings in recent years when he traveled last summer to Springfield, Ore., and visited the Thurston High School cafeteria. There, police said, a 15-year-old pupil opened fire, killing two classmates and wounding 22 others. Clinton followed up that emotional visit with the White House conference in October of 1998 where he ordered Education Secretary Richard Riley and Attorney General Janet Reno to work with school officials and law enforcement authorities on developing an ``early warning guide'' that might help prevent the kind of youth rage that erupted in deadly -- and high-profile school gunfire. Perhaps that is what the international community needs to do. It merely needs to get together to develop an "early warning guide" that might help prevent the kind of youth rage that has erupted in deadly - and high-profile missile and bomb attacks on a sovereign nation when two juvenile leaders, Bill Clinton and Tony Blair, can't get a stubborn leader like Slobodan Milosevic to do what they tell him to do. Just think of all the lives we could save if we could just write up the kind of brochure Clinton urged the Education Department to write and distribute last year for international consumption. Perhaps if that had been done, and Bill Clinton and Tony Blair had read it, we would not be sliding so rapidly into World War III. Then, perhaps, we could prevent the kind of youth rage we've seen quite a bit of during the Clinton Administration which erupted in deadly missile attacks in Somalia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Croatia, Bosnia and now Yugoslavia. Once they saw how simple it was, the enraged youth in our high schools might follow an enraged Bill Clinton's example in using dialogue, rather than guided missiles to find "a just solution for all" in the Balkans.
