I gather you missed 60 Minutes after the Masters on Sunday. We have as
much as thrown in the towel now that it is clear that the Scottish court
is going to give the two accused men a fair trial, something this
country was desperately trying to avoid. As it was shown on 60 Minutes,
not one element of the case against the two Libyans will stand up to
even the tiniest bit of scrutiny, something we knew all along, but we
were hoping to give them a McVeigh-Nichols sort of trial, or the kind we
had planned for Richard Jewell until this good ole boy, down and out cop
wannabe turned out to have a good friend who was actually a courageous
and honest lawyer. I mean, what are the odds against that?

If you missed 60 Minutes, or even if you saw it, you might find these
web sites edifying:

http://southmovement.alphalink.com.au/countries/Libya/lockerbie.htm
http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/5260/index.html and
http://www.dcia.com/gander1.html

As the Scottish legal expert said on 60 Minutes, "The case won't even
clear the first hurdle." Now our bought press has begun to prepare us
for precisely that outcome.

Here, by the way, is the full poem again. Ponder it.

         Lockerbie Farce

The Libyan "suspects" are innocent.
I think that's abundantly clear.
Now all but the willfully blind can see
Why we wanted to try them here.
