why would people keep cows and chickens, if
there were no profit?
to those that say wearing a fur coat is crulty,
how many chinchillas do you see around now?
To anyone that has breed animals for food and or
fur and hide and kept
them in thier best condition, take a look at
the average family dog and wonder.
Millions are spent on the average race horse,
and animal athelet. The same that millions are
spent on the average football player or actor.
If those horses did not get to compete would
there be as many people that have horses? What
would happen to all the ranches? Plowed fields,
or housing subdivisions?
If you have made it this far, let's get serious!
If we were able to replicate or clone on a regular
basis, where would be keep the basic DNA? A
computer person would ask were is the source code
kept, and can you bring the program up from scatch?
Why do I ask this? If you were getting rid of many
plants and animals, from the bacteria that die from
antibiotics down the drain, to the animals that are not
economically feasable to keep anymore. Where are you
keeping thier DNA?
If we go to the stars and meet other lifeforms strange to
us, what would we trade, metals and pretty rocks? Gold
and diamonds might be common items on other planets and
in asteroids. What we do have is a diversity of plant and
animal life that if someones cloning, replicator, or
documantion fails - they would be able to get it from the
Earth. They might also like to read a good book. Our history
might intrest them. They did it and might wonder about some
of the hurdles that we were able to overcome, as well as how
honest we had been with ourselves.
What if there were and intergalactic stock market? What
would be traded? DNA source codes, Think of all the
unique DNA (S.American rain forests, the old forests
of England, ect) that has been lost. Where are they
backing up that DNA source code? Ask any
computer programer and they will say that there
are some in this world that are going for short
term profits at a long term loss!
