That fact notwithstanding, the Old Testament is an inexhaustible litany of
"justifiable" murders, most of them commanded by "God" Itself, who throughout
its pages takes inordinately great pleasure in having innocent women,
children, and even cattle of "the enemy" butchered by Its faithful "in God's
name," i.e., ritually, in a manner analogous to the blood sacrifice of
animals on Its altar. In fact, the Hebrew word used for slaughter of the
enemy in war is exactly the same term used for dedication of sacrifices on
the altar.
"I am a 'jealous' god," was this deity's uncommonly honest self-description
-- 'jealous' being a Hebrew adjective better translated 'zealous,' with the
connotation of "fanatic."
No wonder, noting that throughout the history of western "civilization"
Biblical brutality has always been cited by propagandists (especially those
mining the mother lode of pathological religiosity) to justify predatory
STATE imperialism and colonialism. If the protagonists of this schizophrenic
paean to baboon politics had NOT explicitly been Israelites/Hebrews/Jews,
Hitler could even have used "The 'Holy' Bible" as a model NAZI textbook on
racial "eugenics," the "master race" notion, and how to justify genocide.
Yes, I do recognize the difference in spirit between the Old and New
Testaments. The Old Testament "god" is most admired, emulated, and
personally quoted by paranoiac aggressors in both Church and State, while the
New Testament "god of love" is most admired, emulated and personally quoted
by the ineffectual, bleeding-heart victims of the former. Yup, there's
something for everyone in the cognitively-dissonant melding of totally
contradictory viewpoints in that grab-bag of perverted religiosity called the
Bible --
the sado-masochistic glamorization of the "reptoid" Master/Slave dichotomy
has by now been forever assured by that "holy" book, with our psychotic
Masters typically imagining themselves agents of Jehovah, "doing God's will"
as they persecute and torture equally their deluded Slaves, who typically
imagine themselves "Christlike" in their unresisting victimization, which of
course is ALSO "God's will." Could anything be more pathetic, or more devoid
of any genuine "spirituality," not to mention any awareness of Justice?
Thank God for that -- The god, at least, of propagandists for two ancient
ruling classes,
the Levites under Egyptian and then Persian influence who pilfered their
concept of a Universal Empire under a divine Priest-King (Messiah), and the
semi-pagan gentile "Christians" of "Saint" Paul, inventor of a syncretistic
Mystery Cult for Roman slaves, inculcating unquestioning obedience to
"divine" Authority (the worldly Emperor's will)..
