The evidence in this case
* The ONLY evidence in this case is the reported
actions of the FBI & U.S. Attorney, which reveal
extreme concern prompting rash and lawless acts
to prevent the public from seeing a video that
purportedly reveals a Govt conspiracy. The video
itself is NOT evidence, since it could easily be
faked. The only weight of evidence is the rash
and illegal actions to suppress what those doing
the suppressing would want to suppress if what
was being suppressed was what it purports to be.
In short, the Govt's actions are consistent with
the video's claim, giving the video credibility.
* The Village Voice at the least interviewed Mike
Z's ISP and contacted the FBI & US Attorney's office.
The ACLU also seems to be aware of the event. This
indicates that confirmation of the Govt's actions
to suppress came from outside videographer Mike Z.
Points against the video
* The fact that the source of the video, Mike Z,
is a struggling videographer is prima facie evidence
that he may have fabricated the video, rather than
that he acquired it from his cousin Steve who is
in the Army, as he claimed on his webpage.
* Since the Village Voice only refers to the
guy whose webpage was taken down as "Mike Z,"
there's no way to track him down and see if
he has a cousin named Steve, as he claims.
Since the Govt already visited his house,
they know who he is, and so keeping his last
name Z will not hide is cousin (the alleged
source of the tape) from FBI revenge/punishment.
So Mike Z appears to be hiding from everyone else.
* To have created the video is easy. Whereas,
for example, the alien autopsy had to stage many
things, this was just footage shot on New York
streets with a voice over and a claim that
appeared on his webpage that it came from
cousin Steve.
* I'd expect that high-level army operatives
would train for such an event in 3D simulation,
rather than need a crude video of what that
looks like any street. In short, the video
suggests training that's too low budget.
* If the Govt is planing such a diabolical plot
to create chaos, why didn't they force Mike Z
at gunpoint to take it off his website that
instant, or kill him and remove it themselves
via his computer, rather than, as they did, walk
away after he refused? Maybe they want to keep
the lib on things and not be too drastic, but
what they did was itself relatively drastic.
* The FBI and U.S. Attorney who had the video
taken off the Internet could just be concerned
that the video appears to be too real and is
tantamount to fraud and should be removed.
However, how would they be so sure? How would
the FBI know right away that there was no secret
plan that was outside their purview and thus that
they need not investigate any such internal plot?
Again, the only evidence is the Govt's actions.
Let's face it, it's not perfectly clear if this is
true or false. My instinct is that the biggest news
come Y2K will be that everything's okay. Maybe that's
just the "forward momentum" of there not having been
anything like what some predict, so we assume things
will always keep being like they've been before...?
Based on that instinct, I'm heading toward it's fake;
which may also be because I don't want to believe it,
for I will be happy if there is no diabolical plot, I
want to be happy, therefore there is no such plot. :)
