<< I've read LaHaye's Act of Marriage. While some of his descriptions of
the physicality may be considered "quaint" in our jaded age, his main
thesis is that 90% of the sexual relationship takes place OUTSIDE the
bedroom. In other words, if a couple engages in nagging, criticizing,
bickering, silent treatment, etc., they are going to have a lousy sex
life. Wheat says the same thing. Most of the Christian marriage writers
emphasize what Zig Ziglar calls "courtship after marriage" that is,
treating your spouse as kindly and courteously as you treat your
co-workers or friends.

I don't remember where I read it, but a few years back, someone wrote that
the most important time in any marriage was the first half-hour when the
couple was reunited. It didn't matter whether both couples worked, the lack
of presence of children, what level of income. The first thirty minutes at
the end of the day (or whatever time) when the couple came back together was
the time that mattered, and marriages were made or unmade depending upon the
couples attitudes and treatment of each other at that time. Interesting.
