Peace at any cost is a Prelude to War!
n other Texas news, W granted a 30-day reprieve to death row inmate
Ricky Nolen McGinn while investigators sort out some DNA "evidence."
About such evidence, Ann Coulter notes, "The evidence that would tend
to favor the jury's conclusion that Ricky raped and murdered his
stepdaughter include the fact that Ricky has a history of molesting
stepdaughters, the girl was in Ricky's sole care when she was raped
and murdered, her bludgeoned body was found a few miles from his home,
and her blood was on his shoes, his pants and his car. Oh yes, and the
ax that killed her was found in the trunk of Ricky's car."
BushBits:
"Let us resolve that our country will always be prepared to protect
our interests. Let us resolve to keep faith with our past by being
vigilant in our time." **Does "our past" include "history"?
Observation Points:
"Bush (declared) that the political philosopher who most shaped his
ideas was Christ, 'who touched my heart.' Well, perhaps Christ touched
his heart, but how he touched his head went unanswered. Or maybe it
didn't. Government's job, according to Bush, 'is to change hearts.'
That would certainly surprise our Founding Fathers, who once thought
that government's job was to secure the individual liberties of its
citizens. You see, changing the heart is the job description of
churches, not governments." --Cato's Jerry Taylor
>From Bore2000 -- The Vice Prevaricator...
Clinton/Gore loyalist Tony Coelho is stepping down as Gore's campaign
chairman, and Commerce Secretary William Daley will take his place.
(Apparently Coelho's second in command, Lesbian Donna Brazile, is
bouncing off the Gore campaign's "glass ceiling." Says one campaign
aide, "Gore always defaults to the white boys!") Coelho is under
criminal investigation for his role as U.S. commissioner general to
the 1998 World Exposition. A State Department inspector general's
report notes that he obligated the U.S. government for a $300,000
private loan and leased for himself -- at government expense -- an
$18,000-a-month apartment. (Apparently Coelho is very, very
"compassionate" when it comes to tenant contracts.)
National Review reports that Coelho's lawyer Stanley Brand used
private investigators to collect derogatory personal information on at
least one federal employee cooperating with State Department
investigators. "Once again, the politics of personal destruction melds
seamlessly with the politics of personal protection," NR concludes.
Accepting the post, Daley said, "Right now, I just want to get
together with the campaign team and make some judgments." Indeed, the
day of judgement is near for Mr. Gore!
In other Gorey news, having launched his "soft money" television
campaign, Gore was off on his "progress and prosperity" tour this week
in the key electoral states of Pennsylvania and Ohio. The tour hit a
major roadblock at Mercy Hospital in Scranton when Bishop James C.
Timlin sent word that "Mercy Hospital has decided not to give Vice
President Gore a platform, lest there be any misunderstanding about
the hospital's Catholic identity and its commitment to the sanctity of
life." Gore responded, "I do support a woman's right to choose, and I
make no apologies for that." For some reason, he never can bring
himself to say what "choice" he is talking about. Perhaps he is
referring to hair color.
On tour, Gore doubled his "tax relief" plan, offering $500 billion in
targeted tax deductions over 10 years for tuition, the purchase of
health insurance and retirement. Such ploys are not "relief" but
micro-management of family budgets by the central government. Gore's
plan simply proposes to let you keep more of your money if you spend
it the way he wants you to.
Speaking of prosperity, Gore recently proclaimed from his campaign
headquarters in Carthage, Tennessee: "There is a difference between
talking about compassion and actually putting your highest ideals into
practice." Just a short walk from his headquarters is the tenant slum
he rents to Ms. Tracy Mayberry and her family.
Two weeks ago The Federalist reported that once the press got word of
the Mayberrys' living conditions, Mr. Compassion promised to renovate
the "house." This week, that offer has apparently gone the way of his
promise not to use soft money to fund campaign advertisements.
"I'm packin' my stuff up, and they can take this house and go to hell
with it," says Mayberry, who will be leaving her children with
relatives while she and her husband sleep in their truck. "We ain't
got the money for motels right now," she says, but after collecting
her husband's disability check, they will be looking for another
residence.
Can you imagine what the press would do with this story if Mayberry
were a tenant of Vice President Dan Quayle? Former ABC White House
correspondent Brit Hume notes: "[Gore] belittles the compassionate
conservatism that is argued for by George W. Bush, and purports to be
the real thing, the real man of the people, the real man of
compassion. And yet you see this unattractive sight on his own
property. ... The only thing more unattractive has been the behavior
in this instance of the news media. Major networks have ignored the
story. Most major newspapers have run only one wire story on it. It's
a pretty darn good and compelling story."
Gorebabble:
"I'm not an expert on computers." --Al "Inventor of the Internet" Gore
on the "glitch" that disposed of 15 months of his e-mail sought by
congressional investigators.
Observation Points:
"The problem the vice president has this week is that on March 15th he
got on national television, he looked the American people in the eye.
He made a bold political statement. A few months later when the polls
go down he's backing off. This manipulation and deception has
continued for 7 1/2 years. This is about honesty and trust." --Rep.
Lindsey Graham

DEZINFORMATSIA
This month's "Spike" award: "If this had been a Republican, people
would have been crying 'slumlord.' That would be the headline --
'Slumlord' -- and a man who doesn't take care of little people..."
--NPR's Juan Williams on Gore's "compassion" for his tenants. {}
"But isn't it just a case of terrible timing, Mr. LaPierre? I mean,
not coincidentally, we've had a show this morning that's been filled
with a murder in Los Angeles, a murder in Florida, five people were
executed in a Wendy's restaurant here in New York just last week. I
mean, this doesn't seem like the time you want to be promoting guns?"
--NBC's Matt Lauer, in an interview with NRA Executive VP Wayne
LaPierre on the plans for an NRA-owned restaurant in Times Square, on
what occurred "not coincidentally." {} "But don't you think there's
an awful lot of projection that goes on in terms of how people view
her, placing their own confused states or their role in society or how
powerful should women be and it's sort of projected upon her as an
individual?" --NBC's Katie Couric on "confusion" about HILLARY!'s
greatness.

SOCIOCRATS
In reference to the gross mismanagement of nuclear secrets at Los
Alamos, here is the translation of White House Mouth Joe Lockhart's
"Lockhart-speak" on the national security breaches.
Lockhart-speak: "The president has full confidence in Secretary
Richardson and his ability to get to the bottom of this." (You know,
Clinton is an expert on getting to the "bottom" of things!)
Translation: Richardson is high on Gore's VP list and we intend to
cover his rear!
Lockhart-speak: "We've done an enormous amount as far as changing the
security culture at the Department of Energy, at the labs."
Translation: Before this administration, there actually was security.
Now, there's none.
Lockhart-speak: "But I think we have to wait and see, and get some of
these questions answered to see what more we may have to do."
Translation: We're working on some way to blame this on Bush and
Gingrich.
Lockhart-speak: "There's a number of troubling questions raised by
this, but I think we need to let the investigation take place before
we try to reach any conclusion about these issues."
Translation: How the heck will I spin it when the President and
Secretary of Energy are both charged with treason?
Lockhart-speak: [I expect an independent panel's efforts to be]
"thorough, expeditious and conducted in a manner that does not
interfere with the FBI's investigation of this very serious matter."
Translation: With Reno over at Justice, we can stonewall just about
anyone we damn well please.

VILLAGE IDIOTS
"I would say, maybe their own kids, but not kids in general. The only
life that is important to them is white, Republican life. Regardless
of skin color, it offends me when someone is shot dead in America.
[The NRA's position] is based on financial gain, not patriotism or
love of children." --Rosie O'Donnell {} This month's "Dumbing Down"
Award: "Everything's amicable. I mean, really, she is a great lady."
--Joey Buttafuoco on his separation from the victim of his
girlfriend's murder attempt, Mary Jo. {} "It's an example of white
supremacy and the climate it has created." --Dorothy Lewis,
co-chairman of the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in
America, on how blacks have been deceived for 135 years, and thus,
should collect reparations for having to live the legacy of slavery.
{} From the "Village Academic Curriculum" File: "The idea of an
education is not to be a spelling champ. ... To say home schoolers get
a better education is quite a stretch." --NEA mouthpiece Kathleen
Lyons **Actually, the most recent research indicates that
home-schoolers perform better than their government school
counterparts in virtually every subject.

SHORT CUTS
"It's starting to look like our national security is going up in smoke
like the area around
Los Alamos." --Sen. Frank H. Murkowski **We're surprised the flood of
national security secrets out of Los Alamos didn't extinguish that
"controlled burn" last month. {} "The fallout from last month's
fire in New Mexico, which destroyed hundreds of homes, continues.
Especially angry at the National Park Service for starting the fire is
Attorney General Janet Reno, who says burning private citizens' houses
down is HER job." --Bruce Tinsley's cartoon reporter, Mallard
Fillmore. {} "The trick is to live." --Small-business owner Sandy
Graffius on her strategy for avoiding estate taxes. {} Billionaire
financier Ted Forstmann is offering to donate $500,000 to Al Gore's
and George W.'s favorite children's charities if they will hold a
debate on education. Problem is, Al "$353 to Charity" Gore does not
have a favorite charity. {} "A federal judge [says] the Microsoft
split must last for at least 10 years, or the length of time the
average consumer has been put on hold with Microsoft technical-help
services--whichever is longer." --Kenny Noble Cortes {} John and
Patsy Ramsey, parents of murdered 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey, have
released a sketch of a suspect "envisioned by a psychic" along with a
$100,000 reward for his capture. **Sources tell The Federalist that
O.J. may up the reward, claiming the suspect looks like the man who
killed Nichole Brown Simpson and her boyfriend Ron Goldman. (The
rendering we saw looks like a hybrid of Johnnie Cochran and Al
Sharpton!)
Night Lines:
Leno.... Well, lets see what's going on at the Los Alamos nuclear
lab, or as the Clinton administration calls it, Chinese takeout. ....
Money magazine just came out with the list of the best places to live:
Bend, Oregon; Fort Collins, Colorado; Bradenton, Florida. Worst place
to live? Anybody know? One of Al Gore's rental properties. ++
Another hot day around the country. It was so hot people were sweating
like Al Gore at a landlord-tenant meeting. .... Researchers say wine
may help people lose weight. It's not the wine directly that causes
weight loss. It's all the walking around you do, trying to find your
car. .... As you know, a federal judge ordered Microsoft to split
into two different companies. Right after announcing that, Bill Gates
said, "Fine," and bought the other company. The good news for
Microsoft, now they can have two employees of the month. ++ Eight
years ago, who would have thought Microsoft would be split up and the
Clintons would still be together?
Letterman.... I'm so excited. Do you know why? Because Al Gore has
kicked off his "Progress and Prosperity Tour." I hope it works better
for Al then it did for Wendell Wilkey. .... O.J. Simpson has
volunteered to take a lie detector test, for three million dollars.
Here's how this works: If O.J. passes; He gets to keep the $3 Million.
If he fails the lie detector test, he kills the guy.
Kilborn.... According to a new federal study, cocaine, marijuana and
cigarette use among high school students increased during the 1990's.
And I say, finally American high school students are leading the world
in something. .... The city of Baltimore is launching a program to
actively recruit gay police officers. Gay cops. Their slogan is "Stop,
or I'll pout." .... Joey and Mary Jo Buttafuocco are getting a
divorce. They both agreed it was time to see other morons.

A vote for Bush or Gore is a vote to continue Clinton policies!
A vote for Buchanan is a vote to continue America!
Therefore a vote for Gore or Bush is a wasted vote for America!
Don't waste your vote! Vote for Patrick Buchanan!
Today, candor compels us to admit that our vaunted two-party system is a
snare and a delusion, a fraud upon the nation. Our two parties have become
nothing but two wings of the same bird of prey...
