Your essay is nothing but more pro drug war propaganda. Who pays you to
write this crap? Your position is exactly the same as the government's,
i.e., some drugs are good and should be encouraged, and some drugs are bad
and should be stamped out by the state, by any means necessary, and the
state decides which is which.
People have a right to do what they want with their own bodies. Just
because someone prefers a different drug than you do doesn't make you
morally superior. Get off your high horse. Some people like ibogaine.
Others like heroin. Get used to it. Some people like hemp. Others like
laetrile. There's no accounting for taste. Some people like catsup, some
people like mayonnaise. I like mustard. What's the big deal? Who the hell
are you to dictate our tastes?
Drugs do not cause problems for communities. Drug laws cause problems for
communities. Drugs themselves cause problems only for users and not even
all of them. Were all drugs cheap and legal, most crime would wither
away, and most drug users could lead happy and productive lives.
Which drugs people take is not the issue. The issue is who decides. When
somebody else, not you, decides what goes into your body and what does not
go into your body, that is precisely and exactly the same thing as rape.
Rape is not about insertion. Rape is about consent. Do you consent to the
state deciding what goes into your body? If not, you are being raped.
Because that's what it's doing.
