WJPBR Email News List [EMAIL PROTECTED] Peace at any cost is a Prelude to War! Buchanan pledges to cut international ties Saturday, 12 August 2000 23:58 (ET) Buchanan pledges to cut international ties By PAUL SINGER LONG BEACH, Calif., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Pat Buchanan accepted the nomination of a faction of the Reform Party Saturday with a promise to eject the UN from New York and withdraw the U.S. from major international trade and financial organizations. Denying he is an isolationist, Buchanan said he would bring U.S. troops home from Kosovo and North Korea and post them on America's southern border to prevent illegal immigration. Buchanan said that as president, he would remove the United States from the World Trade Organization and the International Monetary Fund and would impose a 10 percent tariff on all imported goods. With the proceeds generated from that tax, Buchanan said, he would reduce taxes on American small businesses. Buchanan railed against President Clinton, Vice President Gore and Republican candidate George W. Bush, saying none of them are willing to defend American sovereignty against a "Godless new world order." The convention delegates cheered as Buchanan warned about the dangers of world government, and roared when he said he would kick the U.N. out of the United States. Buchanan said he would tell U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, "your lease is up," and would threaten to send the Marines to oust the U.N. Buchanan said a primary focus of his campaign would be eliminating abortion. Buchanan assailed Bush for saying he would have no litmus test for Supreme Court nominees, and said that in a Buchanan White House, they would be a pro-life litmus test for judges. -- Copyright 2000 by United Press International. *COPYRIGHT NOTICE** In accordance with Title 17 U.
