Richard,
I certainly do not harbor suspicions about you and early in this thread I tried to make clear that I intended nothing personal. But I do like to get to the core of issues.
I do not believe that this DRUG POLICY FOUNDATION is a friend to our cause and in fact what I see them doing is precise enemy action. I do not think that they just need to learn more. The purpose of the DRUG POLICY FOUNDATION is to put up a fight and lose gracefully. They are only throwing marshmallows when they could be using real ammunition. They act as a barricade between concerned citizens like us and the broadcast system. They are not stupid.
Now I am going to explain the reasons to expect that they work for those bringing in the narcotics.
The DRUG POLICY FOUNDATION benefits lavishly from being located in a building that has TV studios with satellite uplinks and downlinks. These enviable facilities have been used extensively by another occupant of the same building, Reed Irvine's ACCURACY IN MEDIA. I have watched Reed for 30 years. He was an employee of the FEDERAL RESERVE when he started AIM. That means that he had to have FED approval if not the more obvious total sponsorship.
The CIA was under attack by the Church Committee and the Pike Committee and the storm troops of the Federal Reserve families needed to be defended. David Atlee Phillips retired from the number 3 spot at CIA to start this chapter of retired intelligence officers which became the number one defender of the CIA. AIM was the number two defender. Joseph Golden, a partner with Reed, used David Atlee Phillips as the best man for his wedding. Golden wrote the officially sanctioned cover-up book on Edwin Wilson which gives Ted Shackley, Tom Clines, Erick Von Marbod, Richard Armatage and Richard Secord a clean bill of health. Reed hired all the x-staffers of Oliver North. Of course I could go on but the alert will recognize sufficient proof of intel backing.
I tried to contact the principals of this DPF organization but they were not interested in what I witnessed. So having had an enormous experience with this kind of phony intel front I put 2 and 2 together. That is no interest in how the greatest amount of narcotics enters the country with shares the same facilities with a virulent CIA front.
If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck it is probably a CIA front.

---------------------------------------------------------------------_->Mike, my observation was personal, and not as a representative of any group
for which I may do volunteer work.I am not a professional. I am just a volunteer doing the best I can. I
would love to come to the Symposium but my small income allows me to do
so little. The only reason I have been able to attend the DPF conferences
the last two years is because they paid my way. I live in a small apartment
and drive an old car because that is all I can afford. My computer is ready
for a museum so I am saving what little I can just to stay on line.I think perhaps you, and I think Al, have somehow come to believe that MAP
is like Lindsmith, with offices and staff and all those other nice things.
I wish. If MAP appears that way it is because of a lot of volunteers just
doing things to help out, many spending more hours than any person with
common sense would - just because they think the work is important. When you depend on volunteers, reach out and try to enable activists, the
results sometimes have rough edges. Volunteers, me included, sometimes say
things that others may not agree with - and do not represent the views of
an organization.Yes, I and others who do article posting work as volunteers have
@mapinc.org addresses. The organization offers them to editors so that we
can be sure that our posts reach the mail server (even though there has not
been any significant net problems for a couple of years). Nothing lost in
cyberspace. No one at MAP has ever told me that I can not spout off my own
views using the email address they gave me. Perhaps they should? As for Al and NarcoNews, I came to this list only as a result of a series
of messages from him to me and other volunteers in which he made a series
of statements about MAP which did fit the reality I know. My attempts to
explain were met with continued attacks on me, and little more. I still
have the amazing collection of messages. I want to respect Al's work as a
reporter, but it is not easy after that exchange. So no, Mike, you are not dealing with professionals. You are dealing with
activists, many who have been in a fight for some aspect of drug policy
reform for years - myself for three decades. While I try not to be, I can
get angry. I am tired of meeting my friends on courthouse steps! With all those out there who would like to put us in jail I get angry,
perhaps too easily, with those who attack others, folks and organizations,
who have not come as far in their understanding as they have. They are
hardly Judas Goats. So this morning finding another of those Judas Goats messages I just kind
of blew my top. You say that Brian has done good work, so I wish to take
back what I said. And, yes, Mike, when busy part time activists see too much in the way of
negative messages on any list, it does tend to make them think that perhaps
there is little positive. I have left a few lists because of their negative
character. I will try to stick with you as I really do wish to know more.
It just gets hard to find the gems among the rest sometimes.I have no idea why you think MAP would lack interest in your efforts, Mike.
To the best of my knowledge (and lord knows I have no way of being sure
that some volunteer may have screwed up something) we post and archive any
press story about your efforts that meets our well known general criteria.
Newshawks, as volunteers, hawk what they will.As editors the small team of volunteers I lead (and only because I started
doing it years back when it was a one person job, not because I wanted to
lead a team) only watches out to see that the items appear real, have the
appropriate info on the source, etc.Oh, I just found out that folks can now receive the news items that we get
by email just for those marked as about Latin America. This would not
include the many editorials and opeds we are seeing about Plan Colombia as
we subject line mark them by the location of the source newspaper. But
perhaps some of you would be interested. These are single item MAPNews
items, and may be signed up for by using the dropdown form at:http://www.mapinc.org/lists/index.htm#form
I hope that nobody believes that what the newshawks gather and we post
represents stuff we may agree with. The whole purpose of MAP, as I see it,
is to help enable internet activists to be able to respond thru Letters to
the Editor and OPEDs to the general b.s. (and the few items worthy of
praise) that appear in the press. Any value beyond that is just a nice
plus up.Richard
