After reading that article, you have to wonder at the competency of its
author, even to that of understanding, what one assume he or she would claim
to be his own bible, the Torah.
The first passages cited from the book of Deuteronomy, for example, have
naught to do with a "prophecy" of some specific future wicked prophet that
would arise from Israel, but simply refer to general guidance on the issue
of ALL false prophets. Yet, the manner the sentence is structured is so
designed in a manner to mislead the reader with the implication that the
texts refer SPECIFICALLY to Jesus.
Furthermore, none of the passage refer here to any such notion as the author
claims for example, "would have the power of miracles" What in fact the
term "a sign or a wonder," in Ch 13:1, refers to is explained IN CONTEXT by
verse 2, "the sign or the wonder COME TO PASS" i.e. it specifically refers
to PROPHECY and NOT "the power of miracles," as is wrongly claimed.
This initial misleading, in my opinion, sets the tone for the rest of the
disinformation in the article.
Another example: The author claims, "1) Jesus repudiated the laws of kosher
food (Mark 7:18-19)." Unfortunately for the wrirter of the article, Jesus
in fact, did no such thing.
The reference given is, (Mark 7:18-19), which in fact is oft misunderstood,
even by Christians, to suggest that Jesus made all "unclean" meats, "clean."
This in fact is not the case.
Here is the passage in a modern translation: "Food doesn't come in contact
with your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then comes out
again." (By saying this, he showed that every kind of food is acceptable.)"
New Living Translation of Mark 7:19.
The words bracketed, are in brackets for a reason!
They DO NOT, in fact appear in the ORIGINAL biblical texts, and are inserted
there as a "guide," to the reader by the translators. So, in fact, Jesus
NEVER said "By saying this, he showed that every kind of food is
acceptable."
To add weight to this point, the Jew Peter, a Christian convert and a close
companion of Jesus, REFUSED to eat "UNCLEAN" meats, and this is described in
the book of Acts, written DECADES after the death of Jesus. Now one would
assume that Peter, a close comrade, would have clearly understood, Jesus'
teachings on "unclean" meats, yet MANY years after Jesus death, Peter says,
"Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean."
Acts 10:14 What Jesus spoke of was "spiritual defilement" of the heart and
mind, and not PHYSICAL "uncleanness."
I could go on a write a refutation for point by point, but i think you got
the drift of the article? I agree with Tenorlove, this is a biased
unscholarly piece of disinformation. Most likely posted by zealous Far Right
Extremists, who wish to paint ALL Jews as intolerant and bigoted and seeking
"to remain steadfast with all the traditions of the Law," which apparently
means KILLING all "false prophets" and death to all who do not worship there
unnameable"G-d."
