-Caveat Lector- This is a country divided. But it is not a country divided between those who want Bush and a those who want Gore. It is divided near evenly between those who care and those who don't care. According to the always questionable official version, 52% of the electorate voted. That means that, at a bare minimum, 48% didn't. That's an awful lot of people who don't care whether it�s Tweedle-dumb or Tweedle-dumber. I'm one of them. I don't care one bit. If you do, you're fools. Excuse me. That was rude. Let me rephrase that. You're acting like fools. This is a critical difference. Behavior can change. In my perhaps pitiful naivete I cling to the notion that one day the rest of you might wise up. Come on, people. Open your eyes. (1.) Hitler and Mussolini had greater political differences than do Bush and Gore. Leno and Letterman are less alike. (2.) Whoever is elected, three fourths of all Americans didn't vote for him. I did vote, but not for any candidate. I voted on some local and state referendums. They are the closest thing to direct democracy we have. Only direct, participatory democracy is real democracy. Anything else is a fraud and a sham. "Representative" democracy is not representative, at least not of the people who vote. Neither is it democracy. It's a hustle. You, my poor deluded friends, are the marks. Wise up. Politicians work for the corporations who pay them. It's all about money. To these guys and their masters, you and I are nothing but livestock. Politicians are the Judas goats that the corporations use to lead us around. The corporations themselves are a front. Our real rulers are the same handful of plutocrats who rule the rest of the planet. We don't elect our rulers. At best we elect a few of their henchmen. Big deal. A henchman is a henchman. What difference does it make what his name is? Forget the election already.
