[EMAIL PROTECTED]Controversial CIA Officer Reportedly Investigated
for
Offer to Rig 2000 US Presidential Election
Agency, FBI Refuse Comment
Washington DC, December 1, 2000 - Controversial CIA officer John Alejandro King, also known as 'The Covert Comic,' is reportedly under investigation by the FBI and CIA Security for offering to manipulate the 2000 US Presidential election for as little as $10, according to statements published on his web site.
King’s offer, which first appeared on his web site in July, has attracted growing attention since the 2000 Presidential election became deadlocked.
In his web site King offers to use his "extensive background in covert political action" to ensure the election of any person readers specify - whether a candidate from a major US political party or a complete unknown - in exchange for a "processing fee."
King's web site, which is called "The Covert Comic" (www.covertcomic.com), pokes fun at the CIA, the FBI, and conspiracy theories while offering to donate profits to Amnesty International and food banks to help the poor. An Agency official contacted by journalists acknowledged that The Covert Comic web site is the work of a real CIA employee. The same official denied reports that the employee has been targeted for retaliation by the CIA for publishing the site. Agency officials have previously characterized jokes in The Covert Comic web site as "tasteless."
Agency officials had no comment regarding King's claim - believed to be a joke - that he assassinated President John F. Kennedy. The Covert Comic is the alias of CIA officer John Alejandro King. For more information contact John Alejandro King at [EMAIL PROTECTED], or call (703) 615-0655.
