-Caveat Lector-

Picked this up off a Bizarre Newsletter I get in e-mail from time to
time. It's about Charles Manson and some things he's said. In
particular I find his comment "In the world of the blind, the one-eyed
man is king" to be quite interesting. I think he's saying that blind
people have a more active third eye than one who is not blind.

Greetings Fellow Bizarros:

Have any of you seen a report circulating on the Internet
that is supposedly penned by Charles Manson? Well, it looks
like he wants peace in the Middle East NOW! Yeah, since he
cannot get paroled, he wants to add his name to the long list
of people who are praying for peace.

Obviously I cannot verify the authenticity of this story, but
it is one of the more wacky things I have read online. When I
told the chief editor about this, he suggested that I fly to
California to interview Manson about this. He reasoned that
even if the story was a dead end, I should be able to cajole
something "bizarre" from this mass murderer.

Now, call me a coward, but visiting Charles Manson in person
is not something I really want to do. Put me in for a road
trip to a brothel, a cockfight, a tattoo parlor, but I draw
the line with mass murderers. After I suggested that the chief
editor at Shagmail replace me for an issue and take the
assignment himself, he muttered that he was too busy.

Instead of seeing this guy in person, I figured to bone up on
some of his homespun philosophy. Here are some short quotes
attributed to him:

"The most happy marriage I can picture or even imagine to
myself would be the union of a deaf man to a blind woman."

"I think the best candidate for President of the United States
is Al Gore. But, I wish he wasn't so stiff."

"In the world of the blind, the one-eyed man is king."

"The wishbone will never replace the backbone."

And my favorite:

"When you have got an elephant by the hind legs and he is
trying to run away, it's best to let him run."

Thanks Charlie, and if you ever get out on parole, drop my
editor a line. I think he admires your philosophy of life.

Bizarrely,

Lewis
