Maybe it can generate a little understanding. There's an "old" saying that's been around since 1960 or earlier - "Elect a democrat, get socialism. Elect a republican, get socialism -- a little slower. For myself, I absolutely do not think we have won with "our" Bush. "You think you won this time with your Bush, but in reality, we have all lost." Yes - of course we have all lost - we have not elected as president a patriotic constitutionalist, as we should have done - in order to preserve the freedom which we have inherited, but of which the social planners would like to relieve us of in order to merge us into a new world order, an all powerful UN, etc. "I realize that the Bush supporters cannot see how the process as it unfolded in Florida was wrong, disenfranchised thousands of votors, and at every opportunity the vote counting was stopped. You can damn well bet I am angry, along with millions of others who see this process for what it was -- a sham. " It is difficult to convey with the written word my confusion and difficulty in seeing your point of view regarding Florida. Every time the results of a recount were announced, Gore came up with a few paltry votes. I recall about 5 such, and it seems at that rate recounts would have to be carried on into eternity for the number to equal and surpass Bush. Election night, he was ahead by 1900, and after 30 days it was about 550. (I could not help but wonder how it was that Bush never came up with any additional votes.) The democrats were howling about counting every vote, and at the same time going to court to PREVENT the counting of approximately 18,000 absentee ballots from two counties, mostly servicemen and women. This is incredibly irrational - unbelievable. How can you demand counting every vote (over and over) and refuse to count 18,000? The process was not a sham - how long would a reasonable person insist on recounting? Weeks - months? As long as it takes? What about the Florida state statute which proscribed the date by which the count must be completed and certified? If Gore had taken the Florida electoral votes, then which state or states would Bush have taken to court, to force recounts in as many states and counties as he felt necessary --- imaging how long this lunacy could have gone on. I noticed one thing, whenever a county board, district court, state supreme court, or US supreme court took a stand and made a decision, the side against whom the decision was made hated it and condemned the body making it. We have all lost. Now, as survivors, let's not all kill each other in a verbal civil was while we still have the time and power to make a change.
