S&B founder Alphonso Taft serving as Attorney General in the Grant administration helped shape the 1877 commission which papered over the theft. Bonesmen Morrison Waite serving as Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court and Senator Wilhelm Evarts, Hayes�s Secretary of State and other �brothers� helped to influence the eventual results. An agreement whereby the Southern Democrats didn't �contest� the election for assurances to end the Reconstruction. These power of these two related fraternal organizations is stark in their influences effecting the course of our republic. Through members such as Theodore Roosevelt, WH Taft, Col. Stimson, Averill Harriman and others these secret fraternities have operated levers of power for generations. Gerald Ford is a member of this select group.
