If it WERE a militia, it would be called THE NATIONAL MILITIA.
The Militia was NOT a Government Force, but a force of Citizens,
ARMED to protect themselves from mischief FROM the Government,
such as the "peace at any price" disarmament pablum that you
numbskulls
who cannot remember anything before 1980 are whining about so much.
Maybe you'll remember WWII, ( it was a really BIG war between
1941-1945
for the U.S.), and one of the really BAD guys was named Hitler -- he
convinced
everyone in Germany that it would be a really good thing to disarm
everyone,
since it would result in much less crime (which his SS was responsible
for
creating.) Ditto for Stalin in Russia. And just LOOK how those two
countries fared after being totally disarmed, and having nothing
whatever
do defend themselves and their families from those midnight knocks
at the door.

What a cop-out... Using your logic, we should oulaw and confiscate
ALL cars for that very reason - they are the LEADING cause of deaths.
Have you no legs? No bicycles? No roller skates? There are always
alternate methods of transportation if you truly believed your
perverted
logic. Just think of the POLLUTION that would be eliminated, the
ENVIRONMENT protected, the EARTH saved.....
