no-one could do anything without the romans ok.
i actually thought that the freeing of a prisoner was a regular occurance -
on holidays? maybe pilate did wash his hands of it- maybe the jewish
authorities did plan it all- maybe christ even existed- whatever.
but the examples you give about race are innapropriate- on one side you
refer to a religion (jews) and in the comparitive ones you mention states
(greece, itlay, america, etc)
important to mention that the crowd (the beauty of democracy) was not a
jewish mob. it was a city centre mob and (am i wrong?) made up of a number
of different races and people not only with an interest in the poitics of it
all- just a mixture of people on a holi-day in a busy city centre. "the life
of brian" is probably as good a representation as any of what it might have
been like.

the same way people make obviously humorous statements at the end of mails
to give some small kind of lighthearted context to what was written before.
but c'mon- your argument is air thin. because of the reasons you give
yourself- we cannot be continue to go on about who killed christ- it doesn't
matter... just like we in scotland are meant to not hate the english anymore
after what they did a mere 200 years ago- let alone 2000. if we can do it-
then the far right can stop whining about the bloody jews killing christ. it
is just bad show to be bringing it up and going on about it. it may or it
may not be a technically accurate statement, but it certainly does cause
offence in a way that your examples do not.
