I have a plan that will make the life of women in Afghanistan and in any
other Moslem community that cannot adjust to the difference in the two sexes.
It is very simple. No special provisions for women will need to be made.
They can go to school with men. They would be able to work side by side with
men. Up until the age of seven, men would be raised along side their
sisters, cousins or whatever female relatives they may have. At seven, the
men would be separated into two groups. One group would be blinded, and the
other castrated. The blinded men would fulfill the roles of husbands. The
castrated would be educated to fill the positions a society needs to get
along well. This way women would be free and the sight of one would not
cause any problems for men. The blind men could not see the women and so
would never be tempted at all; the castrated men would by the nature of their
condition not care about women as a separate sex--men and women would all
look alike to them. This is such a simple solution to the problem from
which the Taliban and others suffer that I am surprised it hasn't been done.
