Flight attendant Anne Marie Smith, who claims a ten month relationship with embattled Congressman Gary Condit, may have saved the same kind of evidence Monica Lewinsky preserved on her famous blue dress, a reporter who has interviewed Smith extensively suggested late Tuesday. In an interview with ABC's Connie Chung last Thursday, Condit first said Smith had fabricated claims of a sexual relationship. A day later he explained to Newsweek that he and Smith may merely have differing views as to what constitutes a relationship. But Talk Magazine writer Lisa DePaulo, who has talked to Smith at length about the details of her affair with the California congressman, told CNBC's Geraldo Rivera there was no question the two were romantically involved. DEPAULO: He may not consider ten months of having sex a relationship but she sure did. And she has many pieces of, quote, evidence. Is there a blue dress? Ah, not exactly. RIVERA: Clothes? DEPAULO: Yeah. And there's no doubt that these two spoke frequently, saw each other frequently. You'll see more of that in the weeks to come. DePaulo did not say how clothing articles in Smith's possession would prove her relationship with Condit, but the reference to Lewinsky's "blue dress" may mean she has samples of Condit's hair or other material which could yield DNA. Smith's lawyer Jim Robinson has repeatedly made references to evidence of a sexual nature that he says investigators have asked him not to discuss in detail. As DePaulo dropped the hint of possible DNA evidence to Rivera, Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity was grilling Robinson about his previous claim that he was guarding information that would leave Americans "stunned and shocked." HANNITY: I don't want to go into the Clinton area but if you really wanted to get crude about it, you could. And distinguishing characteristics, so on and so forth, all of which could be verified....You had made the statement, "If America knew about this man, they'd be stunned and shocked." Remember you said that? And then Alan followed up about things of a sexual nature. Are you willing tonight to say any more about that? ROBINSON: I've been asked by Anne Marie not to. It's not things for television. It's not things for prime time, for children to be hearing on TV. HANNITY: We have the story of the ties, We have other stories. You're saying it is beyond the realm of what most people would consider normal behavior? ROBINSON: Yes, absolutely. HANNITY: And it has to do with, it's a sexual thing? ROBINSON: Yes. HANNITY: And Anne Marie Smith, she can corroborate it or it's a story that perhaps one day she'll tell. ROBINSON: It'll be told. It's been told to the FBI. It's been told to me. It's out there. I hope that this can all come to an end before that has to become public for Anne Marie's sake.
