Mike Huckabee, whose whereabouts have been a mystery for the past two weeks, showed up in Alaska this week. He and first lady Janet walked in off the street Thursday at the Alaska state capitol in Juneau, asking to borrow an Internet connection. Jim Harris, Huckabee's brother-in-law and press secretary, had refused for the past two weeks to say anything about the governor's schedule. "He kind of parked himself down in our constituent affairs office at a little table - actually we offered him a bigger office - but he said, 'No, that was fine,'" said Bob King, press secretary for Alaska Gov. Tony Knowles, a Democrat. King said Huckabee had a laptop computer with him and worked for about an hour. The Huckabees were dressed casually for a typical August day during Alaska's rainy season. Huckabee didn't say what he was doing in town, King said. |
