Sept. 8 - Colorado investigators are seeking the identity of an America
Online subscriber who posted a message on an Internet bulletin board saying
he witnessed the 1996 slaying of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey.

'I feel so guilty for what I've. Done. I was there when the whole thing
occurred. I never wanted any part in it, but they said if I didn't help I
would be killed as well.'

- AOL MESSAGE - posted by a user going by the screen name of "B n
Jazzy4ever45"

BOULDER POLICE Detective Thomas Trujillo asked Loudoun County investigators
to file a search warrant in Loudoun Circuit Court asking AOL for the
subscriber's name, other screen names, e-mail files, buddy lists and
aliases.

According to the affidavit for the warrant, Boulder Police Chief
Mark Beckner received an e-mail on Aug. 8 from an AOL user saying that a
"confession" had been posted on a Web site devoted to JonBenet. Detectives
reviewing the site found an Aug. 7 message posted by "B n Jazzy4ever45."

'I FEEL SO GUILTY'

"I feel so guilty for what I've. Done," the message read. "I was
there when the whole thing occurred. I never wanted any part in it, but
they said if I didn't help I would be killed as well. I was only 14 when
this took place, so I went along with the whole plan.

"The other person that performed in this horrible crime was an
intruder and said if I mentioned his name anywhere, he would make it so I
would be his 2nd victim . . . He worked as a handy-man in the Ramsey home
and had a key. I just wanted you all to know so you all know that the
parents had nothing to do with it. To everyone out there still concerned .
. . I'm sorry."

 Text of the online 'confession'

Jana Petersen, a spokeswoman for the City of Boulder, said yesterday
the warrant is "just another follow-up."

A LEAD 'WORTH FOLLOWING'

"We don't want to get anybody's hopes up, but at the same time we
thought it was worth following," she said.

Beckner's assistant, Melissa Brock, said the chief would not
discuss the case.

All search warrants for information from AOL are filed in Loudoun
because the company runs its Internet service from its Dulles office.
Loudoun Investigator Ron Horak, who handles hundreds of requests from law
enforcement agencies nationwide, said he received the information for
Boulder from AOL yesterday and sent it via Federal Express.

An AOL spokesman said last night that it is the company's policy to
cooperate with court orders in criminal investigations.

BRUTAL DEATH

JonBenet was found beaten and strangled on Dec. 26, 1996, in her
family's home. A grand jury investigated for 13 months without indicting
anyone. Police have said her parents remain under suspicion. Patsy and John
Ramsey have denied any involvement in their daughter's death and contend
that an intruder killed JonBenet.

Petersen said that as the investigation nears the end of its fifth
year, the police still get tips in the case but those have tapered off.
Some weeks, she said, a handful of calls or letters are sent involving the
case and other weeks, officers hear nothing.

According to the affidavit, Boulder police also reviewed online
conversations between "B n Jazzy4ever45" and users with the screen names
"Jameson245" and "Jamesonposter." The e-mail to Beckner that alerted police
to the Web site was sent by "Jameson245."

In those online conversations, the affidavit says, "B n
Jazzy4ever45" wrote that he can detail the girl's injuries and that he was
forced by the killer to use his computer to print directions to the Ramsey
home.

The warrant sought information about several accounts including by
"Jazzy4ever45," "Jameson245" and "Jamesonposter."
