any sin, including anything to do with pork, in addition to drinking
alcoholic beverages.

So if this group sees themselves as the modern incarnation of this cult,
they may also feel the same way. In other words when they entered the
U.S. they were on 'a mission of God', and anything they did to further
that mission, even if it is considered a sin in the Koran, would be
forgiven and they would gain the best position in Heaven when they died
fulfilling that mission.

Islam is as diverse as Christianity; just as you will find some extremely
conservative Christians who will find religious justification for
prohibiting drinking alcoholic beverages while other Christian sects
actually use alcoholic beverages in their rites, so too will you find
some adherants of Islam routinely imbibing alcohol while others claim it
is strictly forbidden.

But one would not usually find someone with a liberal interpretation on
the alcoholic beverage thing amongst Saudi Arabians nor those affiliated
with the Taliban...unless, as I pointed out, they considered themselves
on a 'mission for God', where anything would be forgiven if it was done
as an act against the infidel in a 'holy war'...
