I'm not sure the Israel issue is about "anti-Semitism", in any of its implications (considering the whole Middle East is populated by various elements of what could be considered "Semites"). Lately, I've been continuing my readings on religio-political influences and have been currently reading *Constantine's Sword*, by James Carroll. It is argued that a great deal of the problems the Hebraists have encountered in the European realms have been the result of the Nazarites' perception of Hebraists' role in the killing of the Nazarene. The plight of the million or so people slewn in WW2 as a result of "anti-semitism" is a plight that has been part of an on-going history of conflict between the various religious factions for centuries. I read an article early this morning related to the NASDP and it was concluded that that group never had an original idea. Ghettos, badges, purges, and exterminations are nothing new in the history of Europe which includes certain people deemed at one time or another to be undesirable. My thoughts are being concentrated on not continuing this seemingly endless repetition of the same theme dressed up in new scenery and dependent upon the current generations' inability to study history and realise it's the fifteenth (estimate) remade retelling of a story that wasn't very good to begin with. But still, it's one of the greatest ever told or sold. But, those having the power to pull history out of its rut need to put their own histories aside and start anew. I am beginning to think that this whole Israel concept is the result of someone's cruel sense of humour. In the 3rd Reich's Madagascar Plan, http://www.yadvashem.org/about_holocaust/documents/part2/doc97.html > This > arrangement would prevent the possible establishment > in Palestine by the Jews of a Vatican State of their > own, and the opportunity for them to exploit for > their own purposes the symbolic importance which > Jerusalem has for the Christian and Mohammedan parts > of the world. The establishment of Israel seems to have been -- in part -- something to spite a previous adversary's policy. This is only one aspect of the overall collection of problems with the region in general, not the only one. Yet, the statement above seems to have a ring of truth to it. As I admitted above, my thoughts are being focussed by the *Sword* book and how the long history of internecine policies have a self- perpetuating self-fulfilling prophecy. The idea of the United States comes to mind in that this country was founded on the principle that all that had gone on in the Old World was old hat. Yet, there seems to be this lingering sense of nostalgia by various factions within our society that all was well and good over there; yet, the question remains, if that is so, why did anyone come here? The answer is nostalgia and reality are only good in the arts. Reality dictates we concentrate on continuing to reform our country into a place where the Old World stuff is relegated to its proper locale. This is where the hijackers erred; the U.S. has no place for their quarrel. This is where our policy makers have erred: the U.S. has no place for the Old World's quarrels. If we continue to address these, we will become entangled in roots that were once severed, and decisively.
