ok simple it is
lets say you and i share a plot of land. our families have shared this lot
for generations. We shared the fruit, and we both had access to the well.
some members of my family have had a hard time somewhere, so i say come
share our plot of land.
suddenly instead of sharing, you say well ok, but your family can only be in
the far western portion of the plot of land, and can never ever ever go to
the well.
What will happen to this once, singular plot of land, where we once shared
equally?
well in the eastern 2/3's only your family is allowed, and now controls the
well.
in the west, my family still shares the land with your family.
now a funny thing happens
in the western portion, your family, which has happily shared with us for
years, sees that in the east no one is sharing. What's more, your more
distant relatives are telling you that there is no need to share - they will
help you drive my family from the western portion of what once was our
shared land.
This sounds good to your family. So a fight starts. oops - your family -
despite all its bravado and numbers - loses the fight. my family gets
control of the well, and part of the land your family had stopped sharing.
My family doesn't drive your off the land - they just say they won, they
control the western third they were limited to.
suddenly your family members say its not fair - my family took the well, and
treat your family badly - ignoring the eastern 2/3's of your family's land -
ignoring their threats and refusal to share, suddenly because they lost they
are "victims". and they start killing members of my family. who start
killing them back. and back and forth it goes, each picking a different
point in time to place the initial blame " you started it - no you did"
and neither family remembers that once upon a time - before oil money -
before the British - once upon a time our families were the same family
and lived together sharing the land
