I do ENORMOUS AMOUNTS of research. It is difficult for
me to recall details PRECISELY that happened 37 years ago.
However YOUR STATEMENT that the blackout lasted ONLY 4 hours
is EQUALLY distorted. Perhaps you should do some more research
on your own before PRETENDING to be an EXPERT.

The blackout started on NOVEMBER 9 1965 at 5:00 PM approx.
and lasted until 4:00 AM the next day.
During this period both Miss Killgallen and her secretary
committed suicide at two separate locations.
You ( as others in this group ) seem to miss the salient
point I was trying to make. The time period of the New
York City blackout. Is totally irrelevant. The whole
purpose of the Blackout was to provide the Secret Government
a vehicle of a larger news story than the murder of Miss
Killgallen and her secretary.

While the first great northeast blackout may have been related to
Kilgallen's death, it's a shame the poster didn't do a little more research
on the blackout before posting the above.
The blackout did NOT last 36 hours, neither did it begin at noon. The
blackout occured during the evening rush hour, hitting Manhattan at about
5:27pm (it went dark at my home in Connecticut a few minutes earlier)...
By 10pm that night we in Connecticut and every other area effected by the
blackout had electricity restored, but for some reason NYC didn't get
electricity back until 7am the next morning; so the blackout lasted a
little over 4 hours in most of the northeast, and lasted only about 14
hours in NYC.
I think the writer is confusing the 1965 blackout with the blackout that
occured in NYC in the 70s (either 1977 or 78); that blackout was triggered
by a bad thunderstorm (lightening strike), and it started in midafternoon,
not AT noon...but it DID last 36 hours...
