BF>Let me comment on this once. The "blood" issue is really not as important as it
appears. The Book of Ruth demonstrates this. Conversion is not a bar to being an
Israelite. Actually, to be a convert is an honor. The right of return is rooted in
people-hood, not race. Anti-Semites will often deny the validity of the term
"anti-Semite". They are right. However, notions of "semite" and of a Jewish race
began with themselves and not with the Jews.
Whether there should have been a secular state before the Messianic coming is a
different matter. However, now that it is here it has proven that without existing
Jewish people would be subject to the most horrendous oppression possible. It must
be defended according to common sense. The Palestinians should do the wise thing
and accept this, perhaps converting en masse' in to Judaism and leaving emnity
behind.
Just a thought on a matter that is not controversial to me, and therefore not
really as interesting to me as it appears to be with most of you.
