The United Nations has announced that its International Criminal Court
(ICC) will soon be operating. Various proposals are being raised to
exclude American military personnel or American tourists from its
jurisdiction. This is a dangerously foolish course that effectively
accepts ICC jurisdiction in those areas that are not excluded and opens
the door for this UN court to force changes in America's judicial system.
Consider: If the ICC decides that some American should be prosecuted
for some yet-to-be-decided crime, the ICC will likely allow the
prosecution to continue in our own court system -- as long as what happens
here conforms to UN standards. In this way, our own court system would be
altered to meet UN dictates. Can it happen here? Recall what happens to a
state that does not want to implement some burdensome federal policy.
Immediately, the state faces the withdrawal of federal education funds,
highway funds, etc. A strong, widely recognized ICC would enable the UN to
exert similar pressure on the United States to bring the U.S. legal system
into "harmony" with the international court.
Safety from UN control can be assured only by withdrawing this nation
from the world organization. Its promoters intend that the UN will rule
mankind. Congress must act to Get US out of the United Nations!
