TRYING TO CREATE A "RIOT": In Tennessee,
Governor Sundquist tried his best to "create a riot" after anti-income tax protesters
(who were peaceful throughout) won the day and the state income tax measure was
defeated in spite of all the "dirty tricks" House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh (pronounced
"NAY-fee") used to railroad it through. The governor called out the troops in full riot
gear, to ring the capitol, while telling the press that these demonstrators, who were
not riotous, were "going to riot" (over winning). The "rioters" just laughed at them.
It
was laughable. Even the cops saw how stupid they looked and had the grace to be
embarrassed.

I've always bought the government's claims that

demonstrators were rioting and that was why they called out the "big guns." This was
back when I wasn't "paying attention," so I can readily understand why a major
portion of the American populace would "poo-poo" any suggestion of a "police riot."
But I've seen too much since I've been paying attention again (such as what
happened in Seattle where police clearly started the riots and attacked many
individuals who weren't even part of any group) and it's a lot easier to believe. Maybe
not in all cases, but in many.

I'd guess that Governor Sundquist, Speaker Naifeh, and others who have been
pushing a state income tax nobody wants, will have to get down on their knees to
beg for votes in their next election, unless the people just forget -- which I'm sure
they're counting on. But if the anti-state income tax people are smart, they'll be sure
to remind them, not just then, but all the time until then. Maybe this way they can get
rid of these "tax and spend" politicians. (Source: Sierra Times, 5/23/2002) [052402-1]

PUNISHING THE VICTIM: Be careful who you sit next to on the bus. I just watched a
story on NBC's "Today" about a woman who was sitting next to a police informant on
a bus when the cops busted the informant. Then, with no other corroborating
evidence, the informant, who gets paid by the number of people they "give up" to the
cops, points to her and says the drugs are hers -- even though they were found on
the informant.

So this innocent woman, who has more than one child, gets a "mandatory minimum"
prison sentence of 15 years to life, on the unsupported word of a scag who profits by
lying about her. Her children have to face the fact that their mother is in prison
throughout most of their childhood and teen years - - all on the word of a crook who
became a "snitch" for money. I've always questioned the intelligence in punishing the
victim in the "drug war" because the "bad guys" were much better at conning the
cops. They need "numbers." So they get them any way they can, while not making
even a dent in the "drug problem."(Source: NBC's Today Show, 5/23/ 2002) [052402-

DON'T MENTION THE CONSTITUTION! That's what the judge told Libertarian
Senate candidate from Colorado Rick Stanley when he attempted to question one of
the policewomen who were to be part of the "stacked" jury that finally contained five
city employees out of six. He was attempting to find out if that policewoman would be
able to live up to her oath to support the Constitution of the United States and of the
State of Colorado, when the judge "went ballistic" and told his lawyer he wasn't even
to mention the Constitution.

Not mention the Constitution? In a court of law? When the Constitution is the very
basis for our laws, and to which every law made must conform or it is not a law at all,
according to the Supreme Court (Sixteenth AMERICAN JURISPRUDENCE Second
Edition, Section 256, page 177:)? This is in the case Stanley forced in order to
challenge Denver's law that says you can't have a gun on your person in Denver,
even in the open. The government doesn't like it when people try to expose the fact
that most of today's laws ignore the Constitution. (Source: Letter from E. Robert
Schroeder in Rocky Mountain News, 5/22/2001) [052402-3]

. . . AND AGAIN: How many times in recent years have home-schooled students
shown graphically that home schooling is far superior to public schooling by winning
national spelling bees, math bees, and geography bees? Yet school officials continue
to demand that they be given the power to control the curriculum in home-schooled
teaching, claiming that they have to "be sure such schooling is being done right."
Results speak louder than anything and home schooled students continue to excel,
as in this case: "Calvin McCarter, a 10-year- old schooled at home in a 'reformed
Christian' style, correctly identified China as home to the Lop Nor nuclear test site
yesterday to become the youngest winner of the National Geographic Bee.
[Emphasis mine. -RT]

"Four home-schoolers were among the top 10 finishers at yesterday's hour long
contest hosted by Alex Trebek, star of the TV game show 'Jeopardy.' A record 12 of
the 55 finalists this year, including Timothy Mackie of College Park, were schooled at
home. Advocates of home schooling say this is a 'tangible sign' of its potential. 'We
think this is just another example of how home-schooling prepares young men and
women for a variety of academic, professional and social pursuits in life,' said J.
Michael Smith, president of the Home School Legal Defense Association, based in
Purcellville, Va. "

Every time school officials poo-poo home schooling in spite of convincing (to those
who are willing to listen) evidence to the contrary, it convinces me more that they
have an agenda to destroy home schooling for their own reasons. The "school
authorities" themselves do it because for every student schooled at home, there is
less power for them, less money for the school, and they see the possibility of
layoffs. For their bosses, especially those in the federal school hierarchy, it's a
case
of wanting to control what is taught so they can condition your children to be good
collectivists (socialists). Every successfully home-schooled student is one more
student who will oppose collectivism in the future. In both cases, they must denigrate
home schooling or they lose. (Source: Washington Times, 5/23/2002) [052402-4]
