During the second week of May, the United Nations hosted representatives
of 187 nations at its New York headquarters for a ``Children's Summit.
'
After four days of speeches and posturing by various heads of state
and assorted internationalists who maintain that only governments can help
the young, the UN issued a final document entitled ``A World Fit for
Children.''
A most significant recommendation appearing in this UN plan for the
world's children calls for ``primary education that is free, compulsory,
and of good quality.'' While the unwary might salute such a seemingly
noble intention, anyone familiar with Karl Marx's writings would recognize
the similarity between what the founder of Communism wanted and what the
UN now proclaims as its goal.
Marx's Communist Manifesto outlined his plan for Communist-style
dictatorial rule. He produced recommendations covering every aspect of
life, and he left nothing free of government control. Accordingly, he took
dead aim at the young, whom he wanted in government schools so they could
be conditioned to accept Communism. The tenth plank in his infamous
Manifesto reads: ``Free education for all children in public schools.''
Earlier in his revolutionary document, he boldly asserted that the state
should have power to ``replace home education by social.'' This is clearly
an attack on the right of any parent to choose home schooling -- or any
schooling other than what government provides.
The parallel between Karl Marx's 1848 program and the UN's 2002 plan
reveals the world body's intention to become mankind's dictator. As in so
many of its declarations, the UN's ``A World Fit For Children''
demonstrates the world body's continuing drive to become the ruler of
mankind. It also supplies one more piece of evidence why our nation should
withdraw completely from the UN's increasingly sinister grasp.
