-Caveat Lector- I see a UN resolution for a Jewish state, and for a second Palestinian state, that the regional Arabs rejected. In that proposal Jerusalem, and most of the land was to be in Arab control. This of course after 85% of Palestine (the part east of the Jordan) was deemed off limits to any Jews living in (much less being politically involved in). So Jews were offered less than half of 15% of Palestine. Arabs rejected this (as is their right) and started a war. They lost that war. If they had not fought that war, and not rejected the UN proposal, there would be a multi-state solution in effect right now, with the Arabs in control of Jerusalem ( and Jews FORBIDDEN from even visiting Jerusalem) - which seems to be what the Palestinian national movement wants.
What have I missed, pru? I ask again (and still never get an answer) why is OK that the British installed a leader from an ethnic minority to rule over 85% of Palestine, but evil that the British installed a leader from an ethnic minority over the western 15% of Israel (actually about 8% by the UN resolution, but why quibble)? Why don�t we ever hear anything about the Palestinian uprisings against Jordan in the 50's, and the extremely violent methods used to suppress the Palestinians from gaining self rule in Jordan? Oh PS - most Israeli's at this point are in favor of another Palestinian state, and being a democracy, a flawed one, yes, it will eventually happen, if Israel is ever led to feeling secure from military and terrorist incursions. There are Muslims in the Israeli govt. and thus they have a voice in the process. Can you name an Arab country, where they allow Jews in the Govt.?
