Considering its longevity, it's obviously an Act Of Tom    ;-)

I do love removing code.  But MaxWindowSize as a config param is
perfectly sensible, so it's gotta have _some_ default.  X's inherent
32767 by itself would be another possibility.  But, what was there has
been there for decades, and you pointed out reasonable logic to what
it was doing.  So I went with just tweaking it slightly for the case
of non-(0,0) roots, and being sure it didn't absurdly shrink away to
nothing on gigantic desktops.
