I did try fiddling with it a few times for those sorta uses once, but
I found too many weirdness and bad side effects (I recall unclean
shutdowns of it did something Bad And Wrong(tm), frex).  I find Xnest
or Xephyr incalculably better; with Xephyr you can even capture the
kbd/mouse and so mess with key bindings unencumbered by what your real
ctwm might try and take over for itself.

For dev, it feels like a straight win.  For light config fiddling it
_is_ a bit less convenient than just firing up captive mode if you're
not already used to doing it...
