thanks for the tips Matthew and John I managed it so far, a friend of mine suggested to use this on the .xinitrc LC_CTYPE=en_GB.ISO8859-1 ctwm at least works, works @John I may move to fvwm as well, mainly as the alt-tab switching is way better -you can switch between 2 apps like other WMs - ie. not going all the way through the apps stack . cheers Ed
