I haven't even got the modular Xorg to work and I have tried on three

yet on the modular Xorg in Gentoo, it's still masked outover that is's
marked as unstable. There are ebuilds that should be automatically emerge
and still don't, you need to do that manually after you have installed the
modular Xorg.
Something that has surprised me is that Gentoo don't give people the
option to use the monolithic Xorg 6.9.
The difference isn't just with gentoo, xorg is going modular rather than
monolithic.
Xorg will have two trees, the modular 7 which will be constantly updated
and the monolithic 6.9 which will just updated when major updates has come
into the code. Today the 6.9 and 7 are the same.
I think for most users the the monolithic version will be what they need
and not a hughe amount of small ebuilds that will sometimes have a rapid
update rate. Sadly the Gentoo developers don't give the user this option,
in the same manner as they give the option for users to use kde
(monoluithic) or kde-meta (modular).
