If libcurl was enhanced to use the MLSD and MLST FTP commands defined in RFC 3659: http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3659.html then the parsing of the returned data, including file attributes such as timestamps and such, would be much easier. Perhaps such MLSD/MLST support could be the building block for this wildcard matching feature?
