There were no union mounts in the fstab that you sent, is anything else making one? Can you show the output from "mount" while the system is running (in as close to the state it would be just before a shutdown that crashes as you can make it). (Even if gdb were printing mnt_flag in hex (unlikely) the 0x20 bit is set and that's MNT_UNION.) kre
