We still do not have an automated way to build an msi blob.
But it's actually easy to build GHC on windows using MSYS.
Oh yeah? I have just spent an extremely frustrating few hours
installing in turn happy, alex, dmake (I turned out not to need
this), Perl, and xargs, with the compilation getting further and
further each time before it crashes, only now to be grounded by
the following, for the version ghc-6.3.20041128 (compiling with ghc-6.0.1).
==fptools== make all - --unix -wr;

/c/ghc/ghc-6.0.1/bin/ghc -H16 -O -istage1/utils
....
-i../lib/compat -c basicTypes/BasicTypes.lhs -o
stage1/basicTypes/BasicTypes.o -ohi stage1/basicTypes/BasicTypes.hi

I presume this is because I am using ghc-6.0.1, because I know
that CVS GHC of the 20041128 vintage compiles on Linux.
I've attempted to install Sigbjorn's ghc-6-2-2 MSI, but all I
get is the extremely unhelpful message "Internal Error 2211., Registry".
I am using Windows XP by the way.
Could anyone tell me how I proceed? Thanks,
George Russell
