Sometimes, when I cc emails to those who might be particularly
interested, or able to do something about the issues discussed, I
notice that the email arrives in the list without the cc.
Example: the email with the subject "base 3 + base 4 compatibility?"
was cc-ed to 3 addresses, but arrived in the list with only 2 ccs.
I assume that it might be related to the mailing list subscription
setting (whether to receive two copies of emails addressed to
both list and subscriber). Is that correct? However, I would have
hoped that setting the no-duplicates option would block the list copy,
not the personal copy, and leave the cc unchanged.
The current behaviour disrupts standard practices of alerting receivers
to messages of special interest or action items embedded in a message
in a thread they might not otherwise need to read.
So, the next time you cc an email to someone because of an in-message
note saying "(someone: could you please change this?)" or the like, you
might want to keep this effect in mind. Similarly, if you rely on being cc-ed
in such ways. Otherwise, don't be surprised if your cc gets no reaction.
The behaviour differs if the individual is in "To:" and the list in "Cc:", so
that might be a workaround for senders.
