Documented By: Diane Mackay, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: 5 August 2005 Process: 1. Establish an internet connection. 2. Check out the new-faq directory from the user-faq project at OOo, while in your home directory, using an SSH tunnel. When the checkout is complete, close the tunnel to OOo, but maintain the internet connection. (Reference http://documentation.openoffice.org/faqs/site_maintainers/index.html for answers to questions about working with the CVS and the SSH tunnel.) 3. Open a terminal window and cd to user-faq/www/new-faq, which should be located in your home directory. 4. Run the Perl script: [EMAIL PROTECTED] new-faq]$ whereis perl perl: /usr/bin/perl /usr/share/man/man1/perl.1.gz [EMAIL PROTECTED] new-faq]$ therefore at the prompt [EMAIL PROTECTED] new-faq]$ type: /usr/bin/perl faq_spider.pl where "/usr/bin/perl" is the path for Perl shown on your system. (Note the first line in the faq_spider.pl file, which can be opened and edited in a text editor, will need to point to your Perl, as well.) When the script has finished its work, it will return your prompt: [EMAIL PROTECTED] new-faq]$ 5. Re-establish the SSH tunnel to OOo. Change to the user-faq/www directory and commit the updated new-faq directory. Note: any "new files" that have been added to the faq set at OOoAuthors.org require a two step process to upload the files to the OpenOffice.org site. Because of this, before the new files are added, but after the faq-spider is run, URLs to the questions will show in the index pages, but they will produce Error 404. They will also show in the list of files committed to the new-faq directory at OpenOffice.org via the SSH tunnel with ? in front of the line. Manually upload all files marked with a ? to fix the Error 404 responses. Close the tunnel. 6. Inspect the updated html pages for errors: http://user-faq/new-faq/index.html 7. Correct any errors at: http://oooauthors.org/en/FAQs/ or report any uncorrectable errors to the User-FAQ project via the Issue Tracker. 8.
