Were you a PhD Student of BritLit in the 17th Cent or a PhD student of 17th Cent BritLit? And anyway wasn't most of the interesting stuff out of the 19th Cent? (And I'm not talking about Virtorian pr0n!)
Isn't the only job you could get as a PhD in that subject area be yet another 17th Cent Brit Lit college professor? And the only thing they could teach would be more 17thCent BritLit profs. Don't we have too many of these anyway? (By too many, I mean more than 1 in each country.)
